Can I add my own DVR to my Dish Network HDTV setup?

I use Dish Network and want to get a DVR. I was wondering if there were more affordable and compatible options that i can add myself rather than getting them from Dish Network.

   Hi djz2k,

   Sure, you can add a DVR. It is just like adding a VHS or DVD recorder. You will plug your dish box into the DVR and then the output of the DVR into your TV.
